Stopping Time Project
I was interested in a theory that time really does speed up as people get older, which was backed up with mathematical equations. I used these as a basis to our experiments with paint. Having lots of ideas for this project I eventually focused my project on a bundle of letters I had unearthed during a de-cluttering of my belongings. The letters were written to me by my mother when I was at boarding school. She wrote hundreds of them. I had also photographed a corner of my room which was emptied in my 'de-cluttering' and was a great place to think and spend time. I re-built a scaled down corner of the room to house the stack of letters and created some images thinking about the emotional motivations of the letter writing.
Disappearance Project - Using photography, collage and effects to alter or conceal our appearance.
First we used magazine cuttings and photos of ourselves, then began to layer up photographs. The theme throughout this two day project for me seemed to be one of being 'trapped'. We used different lighting to vary effects and disguised the face and body. The above photo is cling film over my face. Other photos show chainmail projected over my body.

Text, Signs & Symbols Project. I really enjoyed this project and explored a few ideas for it, all based around a journey.
The first was my running route around the water park.
I explored the idea of scratching it into the dark shadows of an ultrasound photo, then surrounding the image with the usual 'cute' baby images associated with birth as a contrast.

The idea of 'happy' funerals, was on my mind, which I had read about recently, so I thought I'd extend that to my gravestone and add a little neon!
